Leaderboards and results
How teams are ranked
Teams are ranked by how many of their members hit the challenge's daily step target, averaged across the challenge. They are not ranked by total steps.
This is the part worth understanding, because it changes what helps your team:
- One person walking an enormous number of steps counts once — as one member who hit the target that day. It does not lift the team any further.
- A team where most members hit the target most days will beat a team with a few very high walkers and everyone else short.
The ranking rule is shown on the leaderboard itself, above the table.
Who your team is
Your team is your jamatkhana, and the leaderboard shows the jamatkhanas taking part within a region.
Who can see your activity
Taking part in a challenge means other participants can see your name and your progress in that challenge. That is what a shared leaderboard is.
It applies only to challenges you choose to join, and only to the people in them. Your day-to-day step count outside a challenge is not published to anyone. See your data for the full picture.
When the leaderboard updates
Regularly, rather than the moment you take a step. Your steps travel from your phone to the app and then to the leaderboard, and each stage happens periodically — so a gap between your dashboard moving and the leaderboard moving is normal and not a fault.
If your dashboard is behind as well, that is a different problem: see my steps stopped updating.
Results
Results are finalised the day after a challenge ends, and appear in the Past tab. Until then the app says results are on the way.
Once published, a result shows:
- your total steps and daily average for the challenge
- how many days you hit the target
- your share of your team's total
- the final leaderboard
You can share your result from the same screen.
