Something is wrong with a challenge

My steps are not counting towards the challenge​

A challenge counts the steps that have reached The Ismaili app. If your dashboard is behind, the challenge will be behind by exactly the same amount.

So fix the dashboard first, and the challenge follows:

I cannot see a challenge someone told me about​

Challenges are offered to particular groups — often a specific jamatkhana, region or jurisdiction. If a challenge is not in your list, it is most likely not open to you rather than missing.

If you followed a shared link and landed on the Active Living home screen instead of the challenge, that is the same thing: the challenge exists, but it is not one you can join.

I cannot join a challenge​

You can only join a challenge before it starts. Once it is under way, joining closes so that everyone taking part has covered the same period.

If it has not started and joining still fails, close and reopen the app, then try again. If it still fails, tell us and include the challenge name.

The leaderboard looks wrong​

Leaderboards update periodically rather than instantly, so a gap of a few minutes to a few hours between your steps arriving and the leaderboard moving is normal.

Some leaderboards rank by an average across a team rather than by raw step totals, so the team with the most steps is not necessarily top. The ranking rule is shown on the leaderboard itself.

Results have not appeared​

After a challenge ends, results are finalised across everyone taking part before they are published. During that window the app says results are on the way. This is expected, and it can take a little time.

My challenge total is lower than my own step count​

The most common reasons:

  • Steps from before the challenge started do not count.
  • Steps that had not yet reached the app when the challenge closed do not count. If your phone was not syncing at the end, see my steps stopped updating.
  • The challenge may count only part of a day at the start or end.

If none of those explain a large difference, tell us and include the challenge name and roughly how big the gap is.
