It says health access is required

What is happening on Android

Health Connect has not given The Ismaili app permission to read your activity.

Fix it

  1. Open Health Connect. On Android 14 and newer it is inside Settings. On Android 8 to 13 it is a separate app.
  2. Tap App permissions, then The Ismaili.
  3. Turn on all three: Steps, Distance and Active calories burned.
  4. Go back to The Ismaili app and tap Try again.

Turning them all on did not help

  • If the app now opens but everything reads zero, the permissions are fine and nothing is writing data. See my dashboard shows zero.
  • If The Ismaili is not listed under App permissions at all, the app has never asked. Go to Active Living and tap Connect Health.

What is happening on iPhone

On iPhone this message usually means the app could not reach Apple Health — a temporary connection problem rather than a permission you denied.

Fix it

  1. Tap Try again.
  2. If it keeps happening, close The Ismaili app completely and reopen it.
  3. If it still happens, restart your iPhone.
  4. Check Apple Health itself works by opening the Health app directly.

It keeps happening

If Health opens normally but The Ismaili app still cannot connect after a restart, tell us and mention that you have already restarted.
