Other Android phones and watches
Whatever your phone or watch, the pattern is the same: something has to write your steps into Health Connect, and then The Ismaili app reads them out.
Watches and fitness apps
Garmin
- Open Garmin Connect.
- Tap More, then Settings, then Connected Apps.
- Enable Health Connect and allow Steps, Distance and Active calories.
Health Connect sharing is off by default in Garmin Connect, so this step is easy to miss.
Amazfit and Zepp
- Open the Zepp app.
- Tap Profile, then Settings, then Health Connect.
- Turn on sharing for Steps and Distance.
Xiaomi and Mi Band
Mi Fitness can share with Health Connect on recent versions. Open Profile, then Settings, and look for Health Connect. If it is not there, install Fitbit or Google Fit and use that as your step source instead.
Fitbit devices
Covered on the Pixel and stock Android page — the Fitbit app setup is identical whichever phone you use it on.
Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo
These phones work, but they manage battery far more aggressively than stock Android, and that regularly stops health apps syncing in the background.
The exact wording differs by manufacturer:
| Phone | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Xiaomi | Settings, Apps, Manage apps, pick the app, Battery saver, No restrictions |
| OnePlus | Settings, Battery, Battery optimisation, pick the app, Do not optimise |
| Oppo and Realme | Settings, Battery, App battery usage, pick the app, Allow background activity |
| Vivo | Settings, Battery, Background power consumption management, allow the app |

Huawei and phones without Google Play
Health Connect is only distributed through the Google Play Store, so a phone without it cannot install Health Connect and Active Living cannot work. This affects most Huawei phones sold after 2019.
